I lived here. It is the corner of downtown that quietly became very livable while everyone was looking somewhere else.
Downtown South is one of my favourite pockets in the city, and I say that as someone who lived here. It sits just off the busiest downtown streets, with George Wainborn Park giving it real green space and the False Creek seawall right there. It has the location without the constant hum of the core.
What tipped it from good to genuinely livable was the everyday stuff arriving. A Fresh St. Market for groceries and a London Drugs for everything else changed how the neighbourhood functions day to day, and the Aquabus at the water gives you a short hop to Granville Island. A concrete condo market, high rise and low rise
Downtown South is largely a condo market, spanning compact homes up to larger view suites along the water. Values track the wider downtown shift, so the picture today is not the picture six months from now.
